FAQs about MAGIC Plus

 

1. what is magic Plus?

MAGIC + is the MAGIC dance class you love with additional attention to detail. In this 8 week program, our team will conduct a brief initial assessment class and collaborate with your family to develop measurable goals for your MAGIC journey. We will choose 1–2 goals to implement during the entire session.

 

2. why magic Plus?

MAGIC stands for Music, Art & Gross-motor Integration for Children. We believe that developmental skills can be learned through creative outlets, not just at school or in the clinic.

We want to take everything that your child has acquired in traditional learning settings and apply it across different people and places. Our data-driven curriculum will incorporate music and movement to enhance your skill building experience!

 

3. who is magic Plus For?

Children Ages 3–8 years who want to dance and achieve developmental goals at the same time!

 

4. who is part of the magic Plus team?

  • Professionals with backgrounds in ABA, speech, OT and special education will consult on goal development and curriculum development.

  • MAGIC Movement Educators will lead and implement the curriculum. They will also facilitate progress consultations at the end of each program.

  • MAGIC Mentors will collect and graph data regularly via class recordings.

  • YOUR FAMILY is the MOST important part of our team. You will collaborate with our instructors and provide input on your child’s progress and needs.

 

5. when is magic Plus?

Zoom Online Class : Saturdays 9:00–9:30am

 

6. How much is magic Plus?

Free for the entire 8 week session. Take just 1 to all 8 classes. Just make sure to enroll for each class day.

 

7. Can an older family member (like a sibling or cousin) or friend also participate in the class?

Yes, MAGIC encourages it for the virtual classes. A student may be more attune if he/she/they have a familiar person to model after. The family member or friend can sign up as a MAGIC Buddy. All the benefits of the part of the class of moving and dancing. The Buddy will not need the evaluation and Catalyst data recording.

 

8. where can we see the data?

Enrollment in this program will grant you access to our online data platform. You can view data collection, review staff comments and share progress with your other service providers from our portal.

A member of our team will meet with you at the end of the 8-week session to discuss progress, re-evaluate your goals, and collaborate on how to continue addressing your dancer’s needs.

 

9. what data will be collected?

We will collect data on your dancer's goal progress. The types of data we will collect may include:

  • Frequency data (how often it happens)

  • Duration data (how long it happens for)

  • Overall Accuracy Rate (how often they perform it correctly)

    Other data collection methods may be considered depending on the nature of the goal. For example, if your dancer's goal is to initiate interactions with peers, we will tally up how often they start a conversation with another classmate (frequency) and/or compare it to the amount of times they need prompting to do so (accuracy).

 

10. why do we collect data?

Much like academic classes or other therapy sessions, we want to track your dancer's actions to see if they are progressing towards the goals they are striving to achieve.
